Snakey the Snake

The UC Irvine 24 Mad Film Dash.

24 hours to write, make, edit and submit a film of 30 seconds to 5 minutes in length.

It has since grown in to what i’m told is a 48 hour Film Dash, but at the time it was just me, my fellow film majors and 24 hours of madness.

The late night decision to write a kids show episode came about and I being the “crafty” one was tasked with making a friend for the shows host, Dr. Q.T Whipplemire.

I also only had about an hour or so to put it together given that we had to start shooting soon to meet the deadline and not loose the light. What resulted was this-

A pair of pink peepers, one side of black and white stripped tights and a note card cut to shape and taped to the inside of my hand.

The puppet note card mouth fared better through out the day than this picture gives credit for. Also, if you want to pick up a set of your own peepers go here: peeperspuppet.com

We used Disneyland as our location so I spent a lot of time crouched behind poles, under seats and occasionally some stationary ride vehicles.

Obligatory Disneyland picture in front of the castle with the cast and crew.
